After experiencing severe burnout as a doctor, I made the difficult decision to leave medicine. Working 12-hour days, I forgot to eat, move, or even breathe properly. But when I transitioned to a new life in IT and now work as a Tech Product Manager, I realized the problem wasn’t the field — it was how I approached work and self-care.
Through my journey, I discovered that mini breaks during the day were the key to preventing burnout. However, traditional timers and sound alarms only increased my anxiety instead of helping me relax. That’s when the idea for KoalaThePet was born — what if there was a gentle, supportive companion that could remind us to care for ourselves without adding stress?
My life’s mission is to help people who are experiencing or approaching burnout. I understand their pain deeply, and I truly believe that KoalaThePet can remind us that we need to remember ourselves — that work actually gets done better when we’re properly rested and cared for.
